Unlocking grid capacity through an industrial energy hub
Customer
Energy Hub Pannenweg (industrial park collective)
The situation
A group of 14 companies at the Pannenweg industrial park faced severe grid congestion, preventing them from expanding operations, installing solar panels, or increasing electricity consumption. Individual grid connections were insufficient, and waiting for grid reinforcement would take years, effectively blocking growth and sustainability ambitions.
What was built
ACC developed the core software for the energy hub, enabling real-time coordination and control of energy flows across the participating companies. Combined with a group transport agreement (GTO) and an energy management system, the solution allows companies to share available grid capacity, optimize local generation and self consumption, and operate collectively as a single flexible system.
The result
The companies successfully unlocked additional usable capacity on the existing grid and transformed Pannenweg into a fully operational energy hub. This enabled continued business growth, large-scale solar deployment, and more efficient use of energy without waiting for grid expansion. The project is now a leading example of congestion mitigation through local flexibility and collaboration.
